The Forager School in the Independent Coast Observer!

Extra, extra! Read all about it!

The Forager School was featured in the Independent Coast Observer this week!

In an interview with Noah Leffler of the ICO, Founding Director Adela Martinez Berg shared a bit about the school’s philosophy and provenance.

From the article:

“When a teacher is able to observe a child’s innate curiosity, from there you create the most enriching academic experience,” said Martinez Berg, who also serves as head teacher. “I think we’ve all had the experience of a teacher forcing us to learn something that we just don’t connect to. In early childhood, we have a rare opportunity to help children really fall in love with learning.”

This emphasis on play taps into the young student’s inner-scientist, she added. “It’s ensuring that children are always safe, but have the opportunity to challenge themselves- to try new things, get messy- [and] really experience what it’s like to have a childhood in Mendocino County.”

Thank you to the ICO for the chance to spread the word about our magical little place!
