Our Expansion Plans

After a successful and wildly inspiring inaugural year, we are entering our second year of operations. Our downtown Gualala classroom is now at full capacity, with a waiting list. We would like to expand our campus and programs, to better serve our community.

Milestones from our inaugural year:

  • Our preschool reached full capacity for Spring 2024

  • Held five weeks of exploratory, nature-themed summer programming for preschool students

  • Introduced Adventure Camp, an outdoor 4-week summer program for school age children

  • Provided local employment opportunities for full-time and seasonal teaching staff

  • Hosted five Family Days for the wider Mendonoma area to bring families together in a community setting

Growth Plans for 2024-2025:

  • Expand preschool operating hours from 8 am to 5 pm, further meeting the childcare needs of working families

  • Create an afterschool enrichment program for school-age children in the wider community

  • Build out our full-time elementary school program to launch Fall 2025

  • Secure a new location for our future campus

Our Mission

The Forager School is a play-based preschool for children ages two to entry into first grade. We fill a critical childcare gap in our rural coastline community as the only full-time preschool program from Fort Ross to Point Arena. We celebrate play and nurture a community of young learners through curiosity, art, creative problem-solving, outdoor exploration, social-emotional learning and fun.  We also offer extracurricular and break programming for school-aged children through our Adventure Camp.  The natural world is our biggest source of inspiration, and our curriculum incorporates art projects, field trips, books, games, and imaginative play.

Roughly half of our applicants have sought tuition assistance, and we are committed to meeting the needs of working families. By supporting the Forager School, you contribute to the creation of a vibrant educational community that nurtures the potential of our young children. Together we can bridge the gap in early childhood education and empower families to thrive, ultimately fostering a brighter future for our coastal community.
