Our Visit to The Gualala Fire Station

Every school year students of all ages spend time learning about emergency preparedness. For elementary age students an unanticipated fire/earthquake drill is relatively inconsequential, however at this young age it is critical to contextualize these initial exposures within community and real life introductions of safety. Here in Gualala we are beyond lucky to have our local emergency responders right up the road from our school (and what’s more our local urgent care clinic!). To extend students' concepts of emergency preparedness we ventured beyond the classroom and teamed up with our local volunteer fire department and EMTs to learn all about the ins and outs of life on the job keeping our community safe. We extend a hugely heartfelt thank you to the team that welcomed us and spent the morning demystifying the world of emergency preparedness.
